About the seminar:

This seminar will focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders including: Autistic Disorder, Asperger Syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified. Information will be presented about identification, diagnosis and current research regarding the incidence, possible causes and outcomes of these disorders. The seminar will also address sensory, communication, social, cognitive and physical aspects of these disorders.

About the speaker:

Dr. Jennifer Brown

Dr. Brown is a speech-language pathologist with more than 15 years of experience in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is currently the Outreach Coordinator at the Kelly O’Leary Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where she has developed a number of training programs for families and professionals. In addition, she is a member of the diagnostic team at the Kelly O’Leary Center. Dr. Brown has co-authored several articles focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorders. She frequently presents at conferences and workshops on the topic of Autism Spectrum Disorders. In addition to her professional experience, Dr. Brown has an adult son with autism.

2. Describe the diagnosis, incidence and possible causes of these disorders;

3. Identify sensory, communication, social, cognitive and physical characteristics of these disorders;

4. Name the best practice for treatment of these disorders;

5. Be familiar with the outcomes of these disorders.
