About the Seminar:
Attention Deficit Disorder/Hyperactivity is commonly diagnosed and much has been written by the medical profession. Yet the practical day-to-day implementation of this information has often been neglected. Participants will gain a better understanding of the history of AD/HD and how it affects children and adults alike. Participants will learn the three types of AD/HD and the characteristics of each. Participants will also learn techniques to work with those diagnosed both in school and in the home.
About the Speaker:
Robin Bryant
Robin has been an Information Specialist for the Southwest Office of the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities (OCECD) since 1990. Prior to that, Robin provided consultative services to families as a former employee of the Southwest Special Education Regional Resource Center for 10 years. Robin has a love for early childhood education and has taught pre-school and kindergarten in the public school system. Robin has a special interest in special education law and provides training in all aspects of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Ohio special education law. Robin has a hearing impairment and is the mother of a son and a daughter with learning disabilities. She provides information, training and support for parents in Butler, Greene, Hamilton, Preble and Warren counties.
Objectives:
By attending this seminar, participants will be able to:
1. Learn the three types of AD/HD and the characteristics of each;
2. Gain a clearer understanding of AD/HD and how it affects a student’s performance in school;
3. Learn techniques to work with those diagnosed with AD/HD in school and in the home.
